One of the strongest addictions to battle is methamphetamine addiction. Methamphetamine is a powerfully addictive stimulant that dramatically affects the central nervous system. The drug is made easily in clandestine laboratories with relatively inexpensive over-the-counter ingredients. These factors combine to make methamphetamine a drug with high potential for widespread abuse and addiction.
Methamphetamine is commonly known as "speed," "meth," and "chalk." In its smoked form, it is often referred to as "ice," "crystal," "crank," and "glass." It is a white, odorless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol. The drug was developed early in this century from its parent drug, amphetamine, and was used originally in nasal decongestants and bronchial inhalers. Methamphetamine's chemical structure is similar to that of amphetamine, but it has more pronounced effects on the central nervous system. Like amphetamine, it causes increased activity, decreased appetite, and a general sense of well-being. The effects of methamphetamine can last 6 to 8 hours. After the initial "rush," there is typically a state of high agitation that in some individuals can lead to violent behavior. Addiction to methamphetamine can come very rapidly and once it takes hold of the individual the person can struggle for a very long time attempting to let it go.
A real drug rehab program that offers real solutions is the only viable and dependable alternative to a potential lifetime of struggle and agony. Narconon arrowhead is that program and offers a true, drug free solution to restore a person’s ability to enjoy his life and family and leave methamphetamine addiction behind permanently.

Heroin Addiction
Heroin addiction is very prevalent throughout the US and abroad. Although it is difficult to obtain an exact number of heroin users because of the transient nature of this population, several surveys have attempted to provide estimates. A rough estimate of the people who are hardcore and suffering from heroin addiction in the United States places the number between 750,000 and 1,000,000 users. Obviously, addiction treatment is needed desperately for this an d many other populations.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Household Survey on Drug Abuse found that, in 2001, approximately 3.1 million Americans (1.4%) 12 years old and older had used heroin at least once in their lifetime. Persons ages 18 to 25 reported the highest percentage of lifetime heroin use with 1.6% in 2001 (see table 1). Many of these people are suffering from heroin addiction and need addiction treatment quickly before a drastic change in life results in death or imprisonment. Narconon Arrowhead offers this very vitally needed addiction treatment and in actual fact the only treatment that will truly be effective for such a drug addicted individual.

Addiction Treatment
I work with people who need addiction treatment every day and often they don’t know where to start. I get a huge joy and sense of satisfaction when I’m able to help them understand what addiction is about and provide real solutions to help them get past addiction once and for all. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.

Overdose Effect
Yesterday I worked with a family who had all but given up on their son thinking that he would likely die from overdose or in prison. They had tried everything they could think of to help him but nothing had worked. After speaking to them and explaining their son’s addiction problem so that they could now understand what was going on with him and also explaining how he could fix this problem with the Narconon Program they both cried in relief as they now didn’t have to face the hopeless hell of losing their son.

Cocaine
Physical effects of cocaine use include constricted blood vessels, dilated pupils, and increased temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. The duration of cocaine’s immediate euphoric effects, which include hyper stimulation, reduced fatigue, and mental clarity, depends on the route of administration. The faster the absorption, the more intense the high. On the other hand, the faster the absorption, the shorter the duration of action. The high from snorting may last 15 to 30 minutes, while that from smoking may last 5 to 10 minutes. Increased use can reduce the period of time a user feels high and increases the risk of addiction.
The truth is that cocaine is very highly addictive and the cravings for the drug can last for years after the last usage. This is one reason that many addicts who attempt to quit using with traditional programs relapse continuously. If someone you know is addicted to cocaine then you need to find out the true mechanics of addiction to understand how to help the person stop using once and for all.

Drug User
A person graduated our program last month and has been at home since that time. She had made a lot of enemies at home and had a lot of repair to do which was hard to confront. In one months time she had put back together her family, got her job back and was well on her way to living the life she had wanted to for so long. The real joy of speaking to her was the fact that she seemed really happy and felt proud of herself for not using drugs and getting her life together. I am really proud of her as well.
